Holiday Fancy

I know Christmas is over, but I have more to blog about! I popped into Kohl's right after the New Year to check for any sales and discovered that they had a few things left over from Christmas. I ended up buying this new tree topper for my Christmas tree and two mirrored snowflake stocking holders: all for about $16 total (originally $80 total)! I do love a good sale...

I know that Christmas is over, but I was on notMartha.org today when I found these: little gingerbread houses for your coffee mug. (or cocoa or tea mug, if you prefer) I thought they were fabulously clever and very spirited. :)

Merry Merry Christmas!!! Did you get everything your heart desired? I did. :) Christmas is full of traditions and one such tradition in the Taylor household is opening presents on Christmas Eve night. (This has been a tradition every since the youngest stopped believing in Santa.)

The food has been eaten, leftovers put away, and everyone is off napping so I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to wish all of my readers and fellow bloggers a very Happy Holiday! Hope you enjoy these holiday photos from Coastal Living.

Better Homes and Gardens did a feature on holiday table settings for Christmas. I love all of the garland and greenery!

Holiday Fancy

I know this is late, but I have a few Thanksgiving treats to share. First off, a few days before Thanksgiving I bought a giant pumpkin in attempt to make delicious homemade pumpkin pies. (I've since learned that the best pies come from small "pie" pumpkins.) The pumpkins this size were selling for $20, but this one had a spot that was going bad so I got it for $8.

When I finally sawed the top off, I felt like a champion holding up my prize, the head of my opponent.

Carving out the guts of the pumpkin. Whew! It was harder than I thought it was going to be.

The inside view of the pumpkin.

My younger sister, Loren, scraping out the seeds. We baked the seeds til they were golden brown and salted them. They made a delicious treat!

The two pies that came from our pumpkin. They looked nicer than they tasted. :/ Perhaps I should stick to simply making my pumpkin pies from the canned pumpkin.

A few days ago, I decided to make a decent pie. (I made this one with canned pumpkin.) I used my new pie dish from IKEA, which I LOVED! It was so easy to clean and cook with.

Instead of making my own crust, I bought this pack of two pie crusts from Pillsbury. The crust was delicious and easy to use.

I even used a fun holiday spatula! The pie was delicious and looked so pretty. Thus concludes my holiday baking so far. :)

I finally found my glass pumpkins! I've been looking for the rest of my fall decorations for the past week and I finally found them!

These three small pumpkins are my favorites. :)

I used the largest one as a bookend...

And this adorable "Harvest" sign also went up on the bookshelf.

This pumpkin is my least favorite...it's a flatter, two-toned pumpkin.

This was the entire view of the bookshelf and desk.

And more pumpkins to adorn those odd little corners of the room...

Anyone else decorating for fall yet?
