Some great design photos from Better Homes and Gardens.

Song of the Moment

I recently discovered a new band, and I am LOVING them.
Name: Barcelona.
Album: Absolutes.
Favorite Song from Album: Colors....and It's About Time....and Please Don't Go....

Here's some awesome pics that I found of the actual band members themselves.

Check this band out! They're amazing....

Oddities

I found these fabulous plates at our local Marshall's and simply fell in love with them! The long rectangular plates are a robin's egg blue with a geometrical design in teal, and the round salad plates are robin's egg blue with an orange coral design.

Shortly after, I found these cereal/soup bowls that match perfectly, with a robin's egg blue exterior and orange interior. The thick plastic cups were also purchased at Marshall's and come in both short and tall.

I got four of each type of cup and plate to complete the collection. I'd say they all look pretty fabulous together, not to mention they're just plain fun! :)

I found this beautiful house on DigsDigs this morning. It's been completely refinished with woodwork and stone, inside and out. It's the ultimate nature lover's home. Enjoy! :)

D.I.Y.

I've always wondered if chalkboard paint really worked. So, this weekend, I bought a can and started a new D.I.Y. (Do it yourself) project.

The board that I used was an old chalkboard that my sister was going to throw out. It wasn't a very good chalkboard; I think we bought it from Wal-Mart for about seven bucks. She'd had it for years and it was basically falling apart, not to mention the fact that chalk no longer worked on the board.

The unsightly before featured a ripped board and a very plain trim. Here's the fabulous After shot! I painted the trim yellow...I'd say it was a successful project! :)

R.I.P. Baxter

I came home yesterday to find one of my goldfish floating at the surface of his bowl. He was a good fish; one with a pretty silver hue to his scales that went by the name of Baxter.

So, I flushed him.
Meanwhile, the other goldfish, a feisty orange little number called Foxy, looked kinda lonely in the bowl all by herself....

...so I bought two more! :) I still haven't decided what to call them. Any ideas? One is white with bright orange spots (kinda looks like a Japanese koi fish) and the other is orange with a silver belly.
Now I'm wondering, are three goldfish too many for a bowl of this size? Oh, well.

Inspired Design

I spent all day Saturday at the International Plaza in Tampa with my dad and sister. When we got there, I was very excited to find that there was a Ballard Designs retail there. I love, love, LOVE Ballard Designs. We also went into the Robb & Stucky store. I tried to take pictures of all of my favorite things, but the people in the Ballard Designs store started giving me funny looks, so I didn't get as many there. This first pic is from Ballard Designs. I love this canvas artwork!

Ballard Designs had lots of great mirrors. You can see the example on the wall behind the table. They also had a fabulous collection of sturdy, wooden folding chairs.

These outdoor chaise lounges were in the Clearance section. They have a thick, rattan material covering the skeleton of the chair. The cushions were in the cutest pale green, paisley print.

This was a fabulous outdoor chair and ottoman from Robb & Stucky. (and my sister walking down the "up" escalator...)
I found this great chair in Robb & Stucky. It has a tall back and is made from a rich coffee colored leather. These lockers were found in Robb & Stucky as well. They aesthetically pleasing and would make for great storage.
I'm a sucker for claw-foot tubs, and this adorable display was set up in Robb & Stucky.

And last, but not least, I found this fabulous artwork in Robb & Stucky. The colorful prints were framed in an elegant, but simple, silver frame. The crystal chandelier was filled with plant rocks in shades of blue and green.
